Leading Sports Club in Coorg
Inception and Vision
In the early 1985s, a group of spirited individuals in Gonikoppa, South Coorg, harbored a visionary dream - to establish a sports club exclusively for the sportive, fun-loving, and cerebral people of the region. Despite facing skepticism, these enthusiasts, led by Mr. C.B. Devaiah and inspired by the innovative ideas of Late Mr. Nandu Thammaiah, remained undeterred in their pursuit. The idea took root in front of the Reformers Club and K.C. Mandanna's shop, and from there, the journey of Coorg Sports Club began.

Founding Members and Initial Steps
Mr. Devaiah, along with other key figures, convened the first meeting at Parimala Mangala Vihara in Gonikoppal, where the decision was made to collect an initial membership fee of Rs 5000. With the determination of about 30 individuals, the club's foundation was laid. Land acquisition became the next crucial step, with three potential sites considered before settling on the present location. Despite legal hurdles and logistical challenges, four acres of land were acquired for Rs 75000 in December 1985.

Under a shamiana near the site, club activities commenced, fostering a sense of community among members. Mr. M.W. Cinnappa's election as President and Mr. P.T. Poonacha as Honorary Secretary provided the leadership needed to navigate the club through its formative years.

Subsequent years witnessed significant milestones, including the opening of guest rooms, the main clubhouse, and a badminton court. The establishment of the Pro Lounge bar in 2007, sponsored by Firepro, marked a new phase of development. Inclusivity was prioritized with the inclusion of dependents and ladies in membership, while affiliations with clubs in Bangalore and Mysore in 2008-09 expanded the club's reach and influence.
